FYI: Linda Conlin founded OpticalCEUs in 1999 with the goal of providing inexpensive and informative courses for individuals in the optical field. Since that time, she has successfully accomplished that goal with more than ten seminars, providing continuing education credits for hundreds of opticians. In addition, she has presented training seminars for the ophthalmic/opticianry chain Opticare, presented at CLES, and for state opticians' associations. She also write the “Kid's Korner” column for Eyewitness Magazine.

With more than 30 years experience in the optical field, Linda Conlin is an accredited speaker with the ABO and NCLE. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairfield University and optician’s licenses in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She is a Fellow Ambassador of the National Academy of Opticianry, Past President of the Connecticut Opticians Association, and was the 1992 Connecticut Optician of the Year, has consulted for the NCLE, and is presently serving on the CLSA University Curriculum Review Sub-Committee.

F.E.Enterprises, the parent company of OpitcalCEUs, maintains attendance and course completion records for five years.

Sell Out Crowd Enjoys
OpticalCEU's Spring 2012 Conference

Some 150 opticians from Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island recently attended OpticalCEU's Annual Spring Seminar at The MGM Grand Hotel/Casino at Foxwoods. On the fine, April 29th morning, they listened as Linda Conlin, Deborah Kotob, and Jean Davidson presented ABO- and NCLE-approved optical courses. They earned seven continuing education credits, which they will put towards their license requirements as well as their ABO/NCLE accreditation.

This year OpticalCEUs improved the classroom environment with more comfortable seating and improved audio-visual. This follows last year's addition of a three-course, banquet hot lunch catered by the fine chefs at the MGM Grand.

For 14 years Linda Conlin, an NAO Fellow Ambassador and member of CLSA's University Review Committee, has provided continuing education for opticians at the state and national level. With 40 years of optical experience, Jean Davidson now presents continuing education courses. She is certified by the ABO and NCLE. A Fellow of the National Academy of Opticianry, she has trained opticians across the country and authored several articles on vision and eyewear.

Deborah Kotob, a sales consultant for Vision-Ease, writes, edits and presents ABO seminars related to best practices. A Massachusetts-licensed optician, she has owned an optical business and was a sales representative for MODO and Luxottica. Deborah is certified by the ABO and NCLE.

OpticalCEUs Continues to Receive
Outstanding Performance Reviews
Linda Conlin, founder of the innovative, attendee-oriented continuing education program OpticalCEUs and the increasing popular optical news site, Optical News from OpticalCEUs, recently released the outstanding performance evaluations from opticians attending its Fall 2011 Continuing Education Seminar for Opticians at Foxwoods. As mandated by ABO/NCLE (American Board of Opticianry/National Contact Lens Examiners), OpticalCEUs surveys attendee reaction to each seminar using a standard ABO/NCLE questionnaire. “Clearly our attendees appreciate the time, energy, and professionalism that each speaker puts into her/his work,” said Linda Conlin.

OpticalCEUs' Fall Continuing
Education Seminar a Grand Success
On October 16, a sold-out crowd came to the MGM Grand conference center at Foxwoods to attend OpticalCEUs semi-annual continuing education program for opticians. “It was a grand success,” noted Linda Conlin, founder and president of OpticalCEUs. Opticians from the New England area listened to accredited lecturers Linda Conlin, Jean Davidson and Deborah Kotob of Vision-Ease present their ABO and NCLE accredited courses: Ocular Allergies by Jean Davidson (1 NCLE); In the Beginning: Embryonic Eye Development by Linda Conlin (1 NCLE); The Healthy Eyecare Solution by Deborah Kotob (1 ABO); An elegant, hot buffet luncheon compliments of OpticalCEUs; Presbyopia:  Boomers and Bifocals by Jean Davidson (1 ABO); The Three Bugs: Acanthamoeba, Pseudomonas, and Fusarium by Linda Conlin (1 NCLE); Eye Know Why by Jean Davidson (1 ABO); Trends in Fitting Younger Contact Lens Patients by Linda Conlin (1 NCLE).

Spring Conference Attendees Give Thumbs Up

At the end of each seminar, ABO/NCLE asks attendees to evaluate it based on four questions: Did the course further your knowledge/skill, were the learning expectations of the course met, was the course a worthwhile investment of time, was the course presented without specific product bias, would you recommend this course, and finally was the instructor organized and informative. As you can see from just one course, “In the Beginning: Embryonic Eye Development,” the presenters at the OpticalCEU's 2011 Spring Conference for Continuing Education succeeded as far as attendees were concerned. You can see the results for all the courses presented by clicking Evaluations of OpticalCEU's Spring 2011 Conference for Continuing Education.
